How do we handle defective design in hyper-functional environments? How can we go beyond functionalism to include the poetic?
The work manifests a progressive approach to function and dysfunction in design-contexts, using defective elements from analog design and printing processes as stylistic devices. Text fragments from Anthony Dunne’s and Fiona Raby’s critical design theories on "para-functionality" and "post-optimal objects” form the content basis of the design. The three works were screen-printed on anodized aluminum.
